Ford Sharpless “Salt After Life”

An emerging instrumental artist from Concord, North Carolina, Ford Sharpless started producing in the year of 2007. He released “Alpha” in 2010 as his first album. Following this, releasing three more albums after that and landing first placement with DJ Drama and Don Cannon. Taking a few years to pursue other creative interests, Ford Sharpless was back at it in 2018 feeling a new sense of purpose. This was the year he released his project, “Shores”. The year after this project, he delivered four more, including “The Cool Era”. This year, released in 2020, our upcoming artist releases his chill, kick-back new album titled “Salt After Life”.

“Salt After Life” is a 15-track instrumental album filled with chill vibes and unique and interesting sounds used to build each track. The distinctive instrumentation delivered during each piece, along with soft vocal accompaniment provide sweet melodic listening experience. This album is perfect to sit back and really meditate to. “Salt After Life” truly captures an essence and delineates a form of storytelling through instrumentation with every song.

A notable piece, “Narcotics” brings out vocals coupled with some DJing and scratching. The album also delivers a groovier feel through some of its instrumentals. Some of the more bluesy tracks include “Impalas Pt. 2”, “Oceanside” and “Street Light Halo”. Alongside the others mentioned, “Street Light Halo” also incorporated parts of jazz, while introducing a rich and sultry soundscape. This was done by adding in saxophone to the instrumental. The intro “(323824)” was also a nice way to bring in the heat of the album. The choice of bass guitar and select vocals, with a light drum pattern was the way to go. Not only does this captivate the listener and brings you in, but it also keeps the listener engaged throughout it’s entirety.

Another great piece with a creative intro is “Oceanside” This one also incorporates the saxophone beautifully playing alongside a touch of melody. Truly well done spicing it up with plenty of fulfilling sounds. As we move on to the third track in “Moments” we are found by another utopian track, moving us through melodic riffs of synth, sax, record scratch effects, and vocal effects.

Ford Sharpless is an artist that knows exactly how to keep their listeners on their toes – and does a phenomenal job creating each individual track different from the next. This is truly a talent that takes a lot of time and dedication, and Ford Shapeless shows us that he is capable of handling just that. A must listen, “Salt After Life” is now available to stream on all platforms.
