Faded Sun "Huntend"

Knoxville, Tennessee recording artist Faded Sun is comprised of Michael Simpson who handles the writing, guitar, drums, and bass arrangements. The multifaceted, and talent one man band shows flashes of his influences on his latest EP titled “Haunted”. As you listen through you’ll hear glimpses of Metallica, Misfits, and Annihilator, and maybe some Megadeth.

From it’s introduction “The New Era” makes an emphatic statement both with the aggression, and plodding power chords. Every line delivered by Faded Sun is like a chant spewing mantra’s for the new age.

“Night of the Living Dead” picks up the momentum with a switch in tempo . The drum arrangement is stellar, and the guitar chords and riffs are memorable. This song follows the same grim theme brandishing apocalyptic infused lyrics.

“Never Sleep Again” conceptually follows suit. This song finds the Knoxville, Tennessee artist revving up on the guitar with an emphatic performance sonically that would literally have you up, hence it’s title. This song also intertwines the haunted concept with a vocal performance forewarning it’s listener.

“Don’t Wake The Dead” relays a story of Zombies to further along the theme and starts off with an tumultuous introduction and an amazing drum fill.

“Metal Assault” is grandiose. The Guitar riff is captivating and drumming skills are fully on display for this recording. The lyrics seem to reinforce the concepts of law and order. The song arrangement is one to pay attention to as the song meanders in melodic bridges and transitions. Utilizing the electric guitar in different facets this performance is to savor. Faded Sun saved the best for last in my opinion with this selection.

Recording artist and instrumentalist Faded Sun displays a range of skills and conceptually delivers a uniformed body of work. This is heavy metal at it’s finest with dark themes, gritty guitar arrangements, and rocking drums. If you’re a real metal enthusiast and like Michael Simpson have an affinity for some of the bands from the 90s than “Haunted” will more than suffice. An amazing effort from the Knoxville, Tennessee artist.
